The February 10th, NAWBO 2009, luncheon will feature a Special Health and Wellness Showcase, “Your Health, Your Body, Your Life”, to spotlight how you can begin lifestyle choices that will improve your wellness and create better living, from the inside out and outside in, including a variety of healthy living resources and healthcare choices.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER CHARLES BASSETT SPEAKS ON HEALTHCARE
IN THE NEW POLITICAL ENVIRONMENT
Chuck Bassett, is the vice president of government relations and public policy for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ). He is responsible for the formulation of the organization’s public policy and all local, state and federal government relations, and serves as the organization’s contact for all legislators, government officials and community leaders. He is also a member of the political action committee executive council.
Prior to joining BCBSAZ in 2000, Chuck was an attorney for Low & Childers, a Phoenix-based insurance law firm. Before that he was Rules Attorney for the Arizona House of Representatives.
Chuck received his bachelor’s degree and his law degree from the University of Arizona, and is a member of the State Bar of Arizona. He is active in various committees with the Arizona Chamber of Commerce.
He will be focusing his talk on healthcare reform and the new political environment in regards to the past, the future, and the status of healthcare, in the sphere of President Obama and as Democrats consolidate power in Congress. Governor Napalitano going to Washington will also create change in Arizona as States continue to influence reform.
